What is the use of passport? 

A passport is used to verify one's country of citizenship. If traveling outside your country, it is used to regain entry into your country of citizenship. Passports include your photo, name, birth date, gender and physical characteristics. For U.S. citizens, some countries only require a passport for re-entry.

Who are eligible for Passport?

It is advised to carry original and self-attested copies of parents passport to Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), in case parents possess passport. For minor applicants, documents can be attested by parents. The minor applicant is eligible for Non-ECR till he/she attains the age of 18 years.


Is having a passport important?

A U.S. passport is an irrefutable document and proves that you are a U.S. citizen. Having this proof while traveling in another country is important in case something happens, for example, if you get injured and need medical care. It is also necessary to have a passport to be allowed to re-enter the United States.
