The Indian Passport is issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, through a network of 37 passport offices across the country and the 180 Indian embassies and consulates located abroad. 


How do I know my passport issuing authority in India?

The passport place of issue / issuing authority will be located in the passport somewhere nere the name of the passport holder. It may also be known as: Issuing authority.

Passport penalty for suppresing information: Section 12 of the states whoever "knowingly furnishes any false information or  suppresses  any material information with a obtaining a passport or travel document shall be punishable with imptisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extended to Rs 5,000 or with both.
