As regards Orange Passports, the Ministry considered issue of passport with orange colour jacket to passport holders with Emigration Check Required (ECR) status, with a view to helt and assist them on priority basis. On subsequent receipt of individual and collective representations, Ministry reviewed this decision.

As per directions issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, for those to fall under the category of Emigration Check Required (ECR), there will be an orange colored jacked attached to the passport. The main objective of the ECR stamps is to encourage safety for those who are not skilled or educated formally.
