Is police verification done before issuance of passport under the Tatkaal scheame? A: No, police verification is not done before issuance of passport under the tatkaal scheme. In case of the Tatkaal scheme, police verification is done on post police verification casis as per the case. 


How long does it take for police verification for tatkal passport?

1-3 days

As opposed to the normal application, a tatkaal application means quick verification and faster processing. Passports issued under this scheme is dispatched within 1-3 days from the time the applicant furnishes the required paperwork at the Passport Seva Kendra.


What happens if police verification fails for tatkal passport?

If it was rejected due to failure of police verification or improper documentation, etc. you can correct the mistake and apply after 3 days. If you are at oddswith the reason for rejection, or if the reasons are not clear, you can write to the RPO or register a grievance.
